Elephant Parade!

I am so excited to have been selected as one of the 200 artists to participate in the Elephant Parade in London 2010. The elephants will be all around London during May, June and July 2010 highlighting the plight of the disappearing elephant and fundraising to help them . Keep watching for updates on my elephant! I will be posting photos of the painting process starting this week!

Here is what the organisers - The Elephant Family say about Elephant Parade on their website:

Elephant Parade London is a fantastically innovative fundraising and public awareness campaign for the endangered Asian elephant. It shines a multi-coloured spotlight on the urgent crisis facing this majestic animal and is guaranteed to put a smile on everyone’s face, bringing a uniquely fun and highly creative twist to UK conservation efforts.

Billed as the capitals largest public art exhibition, Elephant Parade will embrace all that is excellent about London and will highlight every green initiative of the capital’s top businesses. Decorated by a different artist or celebrity, the brightly painted elephants will help to create a bright new atmosphere in London and beautify each city park, street corner and building they grace. The event has already won the backing of Boris Johnson and the Greater London Authority, prominent artists and well known personalities such as The Duchess of York, Stephen Fry, Joanna Lumley and Michael Palin.

Launching in central London locations in summer 2010 the event has already secured the support of prominent arts organisations, artists, conservationists, dignitaries, corporate organisations and celebrities.
